چکیده

This paper presents experiences with design and construction process of the Tanju Tunnel, West Nusa Tenggara. The objective this research was to characterize volcanic intrusive rock masses for designs tunnel excavation method support system. Engineering geological investigations were carried out, upon which stand-up time estimated system determined based on mass classifications RMR (Bieniawski, 1989). investigation results showed that area consisted colluvium, andesite, tuff breccia. dominated by had UCS intact ranging from 200 300 MPa classified as strong rock. Based value, andesite a good quality mass. unsupported roof approximately 20.000 hours 3 m span. recommended full face, 1.0-1.5 advance, complete 20 while systems locally bolt in crown long 2.5 spacing, occasional wire mesh, 50 mm thick shotcrete where required.

investigating the feasibility of a proposed model for geometric design of deployable arch structures

deployable scissor type structures are composed of the so-called scissor-like elements (sles), which are connected to each other at an intermediate point through a pivotal connection and allow them to be folded into a compact bundle for storage or transport. several sles are connected to each other in order to form units with regular polygonal plan views. the sides and radii of the polygons are...

Engineering geological studies used for redesigning and employing a hard rock TBM in soft rock formations of Chamshir water conveyance tunnel

The Chamshir water conveyance tunnel (CWCT) with a length of 7.4 km and boring diameter of 5.3 m is excavated using a refurbished single shield TBM, initially designed to work in hard rock formations. This study focuses on engineering geological issues, which are important for checking the suitability of this machine and proposing required modifications for improving its performance in soft roc...
